HOW DO I...
OBTAIN
TELEPHONE ADVICE?
The telephone lines are busy during
morning surgery, so telephone enquiries other than requests for appointments and
visits are better made as follows:
| Test results: |
between 4.00 - 6.00pm |
| Speak to doctor: |
try at 11.30am or as suggested by
the receptionist |
HOW
DO I...
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT?
ADVANCED ACCESS
The surgery now operates an Advanced Access appointments system which incorporates the best features of our previous arrangements to hopefully result in you being seen on the same day you request the appointment.
All you have to do is ring on the morning that you want to be seen. Our phone lines are open from 8.30am and there will be morning and afternoon appointments available for that day. The access system delivers the opportunity to pre-book an appointment up to two weeks in advance and the opportunity to be seen by a GP of the patient's choice, this will normally be within for weeks but subject to the doctor's availability.
URGENT APPOINTMENTS
Urgent cases will be seen on the same day by the first available doctor. Children
under 14 years must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
If you have not been seen at the surgery for three years (or one year for those over 75 years) you can request a check-up appointment if required.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT?
If you are too ill to attend surgery, a home visit should be requested before
10.30am except, of course, in an emergency. Please be ready to give the receptionist
some indication of the nature of your problem, so that the doctor can assess the
urgency of your request.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS?
Most test results take 7-10 days to be processed. Some take longer. When you telephone
for a result, you should be prepared to identify yourself, saying what tests were
carried out, when they were done, and which doctor requested them. Pregnancy test
results will only be given to the patient herself.
